frequently asked questions
Do you offer a finance option?
No, some companies may use this as an easier way to purchase their radiators that are already very, very expensive. Northern Heating keeps their prices affordable and our customers find it an easier way to buy their new heating system rather than paying too much money and having a debt hanging over them for years ahead.
What do I do about my Economy 7 tariff?
We will advise you as to the best action regarding your E7 tariff, depending on your current circumstances and usage. If needed we will liaise with your energy supplier on your behalf to ensure you get the tariff that is right for you.
Do you remove and dispose of my old heating system?
Yes. In most cases, we do not charge our customers for removal of their old night storage heaters. Other companies don’t remove complete night storage heaters and if requested will charge accordingly for removal or disposal.
Please note: some night storage heaters contain asbestos and may require specialist disposal. Additionally some wet systems may require supplementary work.
How long will installation take?
Installation normally takes around 30 minutes per radiator, with no fuss or disruption.
How slim are your radiators?
Our radiators are genuinely ultra slim, at only 8cm deep compared to other manufactures that are 11cm deep and charge an extra for anything slimmer.
How long do your radiators take to warm up?
Due to the soapstone core Northern Heating radiators take only 6 minutes to start convecting heat into your room, However to reach the desired temperature will depend on a few factors.
- Existing room temperature
- Rooms heat loss and insulation
- Desired temperature
As long as you have the right size of radiator then the room should warm up rapidly.
Are your radiator controls easy to use?
The choice is yours, we at northern heating recommend an analogue control that is very simple to use and easy to understand. It allows complete temperature and timed control of the radiator. However if you would like a very complicated expensive digital control, used by other larger manufactures, then we can provide one.
How do your radiators warm the room?
Our radiators draw cold air in from the floor and rapidly convert it into warm air using our double / triple convection flutes. We use double / triple convection flutes to increase the warm air flow throughout the room and this results in a quicker heat up time. Other companies just use single convection flutes. Our radiators have a sensor to measure the room temperature at the floor level (the coldest part of the room) ensuring even heat distribution and no more cold feet. Other manufactures use complicated and expensive wall mounted thermostats that turn the radiators off after only the top half the room has been heated.
HOW ARE NORTHERN HEATING’S RADIATORS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER GERMAN RADIATORS?
Many German radiators look very similar, but they only contain clay (also known as chamotte or grog) in their core which has poor heat retention. Our radiators uniquely contain soapstone. When compressed with 200 tonnes of pressure it is compacted from 16cm to 2cm making it incredibly dense, non-porous and to ensure a very fast warm up time and longer heat retention.
